  WE ARE CHAMPIONS!!

Congratulations Santa Rosa Flyers Squirts and PeeWees for keeping those trophies home.

What a weekend!  What games!  What Champs! WHAT FUN!! The 2007 Wine Country Face-Off Tournament ended with two Santa Rosa teams as Champions.  In the first nail-biter, the Squirts ended their match against the Lake Tahoe Grizzlies with a 2-2 tie, which went into a 5 minute sudden-death overtime.  Santa Rosa scored 19 seconds later!   The undefeated PeeWees went on to beat the Littleton (Colorado) Hawks 4-2 in a race to the finish.  CONGRATULATIONS CHAMPS!  and CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all participants of the hugely successful 11th annual WINE COUNTRY FACE-OFF TOURNAMENT!  This is an incredible 4-day club event, and so many people put their heart and soul and TIME into making this such a successful tournament. THANK YOU Littleton Colorado Hawks, Pasadena Maple Leafs, WIHL, Tahoe Grizzlies, LA Hockey Club, San Francisco Sabercats,  Beach City Lightening, Berkeley Bull Dogs, California Cougars for coming to Santa Rosa and for your part in making our tournament such a success.  Hope to see you next year!

The SRJHC would especially like to recognize DONN NISJA for the incredible amount of time and energy he has put into this tournament the past 3 years.  Donn has spent countless hours over these years making this tournament the classy, extremely sought-after event it has become, not to mention the financial success it is as well!  Thank you Sandy and Nik for your efforts, too, and especially for letting Donn's hockey family take precedence over you during the weeks leading up to the tournament.  Cheers to all of you!

 THANK YOU DONN NISJA!

WOW! -- DO WE HAVE SOME PRIZES!!

The donations continue to filter in, and they are incredible!  Chris Woida has so generously donated that big 42" Plasma TV.  Master Replicas has once again donated these fabulous Darth Maul lightsabers,  Okanagan Hockey School in beautiful Penticton, BC has donated one week of summer hockey camp, and HockeyX Sports in Oakland (we all know HockeyX well, don't we??!) has donated gift certificates and an autographed jersey by none-other than MR. JOE THORNTON of the San Jose Flyers.

HERE'S WHAT ELSE YOU'LL FIND AT THE TOURNAMENT:  The guys who make the WCFO t-shirts and hoodies; the Gem Lady who makes those beautiful shirts with the rhinestones, Rod Peterson's hockey cart that carries all those awesome trading cards, mini sticks and pucks, and Leonard Ramsey photography.

Also, we have ordered WCFO pucks and mini sticks, wine glasses, and have chocolate hockey items we will be offering for sale. Add in all the wonderful team baskets...

THE WCFO Program: we have a fabulous program this year! Thanks to the hard work of Jeff Reynolds - program designer - this is truly the best program we have seen yet! Thanks Jeff! All the printing was donated by Bryan Neill and GPM in Rohnert Park. Thank you Bryan and GPM, and all who have taken out ads!

Baked Goods: Your team rep or manager will be asking that you sign up to bring desserts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Each team is required to supply 3 desserts each night of the tournament. They DO NOT need to be homemade...store bought is fine. Three people from each team, each night - make it easy on your rep and let them know you are willing to bring something. They can be brought directly to the Hospitality Room the night of.

and Hospitality Items:  this is a unique area of our tournament that others don't usually have. Come up to get a cup of coffee and a snack...with those early morning games...In the evening...snacks and drinks are available...we know how busy a tournament can be.  Nancy's Fancys is supplying all the decorations!! It is nice to offer adults a quiet place to grab something to eat quick, and watch the game. The quiet Tiki Room is the place!
  • CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR?  ...

  • Hospitality:  This is where adults come for a moment of peace and quiet, as well as grab a quick snack. What you will be doing in here is simply keeping an eye on the tables that have food, keeping things cleaned up, and monitoring our Tip Jar, so no one walks off with it! In addition, we will be selling some items here like wine glasses, coffee mugs, and so on.
  • Info Table; Teams getting ready to play a game will check in here, as will people working various game slots like Clock, Scorekeeper, Announcer, Penalty Box Attendants, and Locker Room Attendants. Details from games already played will be posted here, as well as the upcoming schedule. This is where visitors can get information about our area, like where to eat and so on.
  • Sales/Raffle Table:  This is where people can come to purchase raffle tickets for our various baskets and other raffle items. Souvenir programs, WCFO SNOOPY pins, Flyers pins, WCFO collector pucks & mini sticks, and Hockey Chocolate can be purchased here as well as Pasta Dinner Tickets. The people working here will also monitor the Silent Auction table.
  •  Pasta Ticket Sales : We have learned from the past that right before the Pasta Dinner on Saturday, there is often a mad rush. We will be setting up a table separate from the Sales/Raffle area to sell only pasta tickets.
  • Info and Sales Table: This is on Monday only. Because the Raffle tables have closed, we are combining the Info with the Sales table. Games still need to be played on Monday, and this will continue to be the place where people/teams check in. Anyone wanting to purchase any items that we have for sale can do it here on Monday.
  • Locker Rooms: This is a great job for our dads out there! You will check in about 40 minutes before a scheduled game at the Info Table. You will be given a key to your assigned locker room, and you will go through the locker room with the coach/team manager of the team assigned to it. You are going to note any existing damage in the locker room, and at the end of the game, you will go back through with the same person, and note any additional damage. The Club has to pay the rink for any damage done to the locker rooms during the tournament. Sometimes kids, especially the older ones, get a little rowdy and disrespectful in the locker rooms. This helps us monitor that, and hold the responsible parties accountable.

WE HAVE A WINNER!  Congratulations to our very own PeeWee Kenny Morton, who won both  first  and  second place  in the 2007 WCFO Logo Contest!  Kenny's drawing captures the essence of the Wine Country Face-Off Tournament, with all the excitement and thrills. With a few other things thrown into the mix for reproduction purposes, Kenny's player clearly reminds us that the WCFO is truly the place any real hockey player would want to be!

For the record:  For the first time, in the 3 years I have been participating in the WCFO, we  have a waiting list of teams wanting to participate...at every single level! At this time of year...this is amazing! It is clearly the result of the hard work we have all put into the WCFO in the past, and the word is getting out that this is the place any true hockey family would want to spend their President's Day Weekend!

Hat Trick Raffle: Be on the lookout this weekend for Hat Trick Raffle tickets from your team reps. This year we have some really cool prizes: 1st place = 42 inch Plasma TV; 2nd = a stay in beautiful Tahoe; 3rd = overnight/brunch at the Flamingo Hotel. All awesome prizes! In addition, we have some incredible prizes for those selling tickets. One especially notable one: 300 tickets sold = Sharks Family Four Pack! More to come on all of this...ask your reps for your tickets and get started over the holidays! There is one 'to be determined' prize for the top seller.

Hospitality Suite:  Aloha! This year come to the tranquil islands of Hawaii, where the weather is warm, music plays in the background, great food/drink is to be found, and hockey is to be watched! The Hospitality Suite is going to have a Hawaiian theme this year! Anyone who would like to help in this area, let me know! We would like to thank Nancy's Fancy's for working on this retreat with us!

Raffle/Silent Auction: This is our biggest fundraising event. All of our money is made from the Silent Auction and Raffle tables. Please help us make this the most successful event to date, by talking to friends, family, neighbors, and businesses to secure donations! In the past we have had hockey camps, cases of wine, Shark's autographed puck, and the awesome Master Replica items donated to our event. Ask, ask, ask!!! As a non-profit, everything donated is tax deductible. Everything counts and can be put to good use! Make sure you remember your team basket maker needs items as well.

Advertising:  Did you know you can lower your dues if a local business puts an ad in our WCFO program, and your name is attached? If they haven't advertised in the program before, you can get 50% of what they pay! For more information on this, contact Cindy Cleary: cinthefin@sbcglobal.net. As soon as the check comes in, you get credit!

This is going to be the best WCFO ever! Thanks for all your help, and ask about those donations!
