    HOUSE PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The House Program is designed for players who have completed the Basics Program, or are already proficient ice skaters. This program provides further instruction in power skating as well as and expanding on the skills used in puck handling, passing and shooting. It also provides instruction on player positioning and helps players understand the rules of hockey. A primary objective of the program is to have fun while learning, and players get many opportunities to scrimmage during the weekly sessions. House teams may also scrimmage and practice against house teams from other hockey clubs around the Bay Area several times each season.

The House Program is effective in providing an opportunity for players to learn, to improve, and to have fun, often resulting in a move up to the Travel Team Program. The House Program is a primary source of players for this program. Other players prefer the lower intensity of intramural play and stay with the House teams, providing a skilled team nucleus while becoming examples for newer players.

Players are typically divided into two age groups: House 1 (ages 12 and younger) and House 2 (ages 13 and over). Each group skates a minimum of one hour per week on weekends with the opportunity to skate for additional time based on the schedule of available ice. The instructors are trained in the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program and certified by USA Hockey.

See the Registration Forms for cost. In addition to the registration fees, House players must register with USA Hockey, which provides USA Hockey Insurance. The registration fees does include ISI insurance, which allows the players to scrimmage or practice against teams of players who are not insured with USA Hockey.

The House Program requires that players wear full hockey equipment, which must be supplied by each player. The hockey club does not supply hockey equipment for the players in the House Program. An equipment list is printed in the club's House information brochure and can also be obtained from the Coordinator.

NOTE:  HOUSE PLAYERS must register with  USA HOCKEY prior to getting on the ice. To do so, please visit the  Online Registration section of the USA Hockey website. You will be guided through the process. Have a Visa or Mastercard ready, the cost is $35. Print out the confirmation receipt and bring it to registration. Contact Heidi Pabros (Registrar) at hpabros@sbcglobal.net with any questions.
