The Jim Wentworth Most Valuable Player
Awards were established in 2000 in recognition of a former President and long
time club member, Jim Wentworth tragically passed away in early 2000
while still serving as club president. Jim had two sons who played in the club
from squirt level through the midget level and Jim and his wife Rachel were
long time volunteers and supporters of the club. The hockey club awarded Most
Valuable Player trophies for the first time for the 1999 2000 season and
these trophies were renamed in honor of Jim Wentworth for the 2000 2001
season. These awards are presented each year to the travel team players that
have been judged by their coaches to be the most valuable player or players on
the team. Winners are selected from each travel team, each season and the
winners receive a trophy engraved with The Jim Wentworth Most Valuable Player
Award designation.
