Wiegand Most Improved Player Trophy
The Wiegand Trophy was first established and awarded by
the Santa Rosa Junior Hockey Club for the 1970 1971 season and is the oldest
perpetual trophy awarded by the hockey club. This trophy is given to the player
who is judged by the coaches to be the most improved hockey player for the
season. The trophy was funded by Ellis and Pat Wiegand as a way to recognize
those players who made the most improvement in their skills during a season.
Ellis Wiegand was a long time referee who started refereeing with our hockey
club in 1969. The trophy remains as a tribute to Ellis and recognition of his
devotion and contribution to youth hockey in Sonoma County.
