Your WCFO 2012 committee members are hard at work and we are very excited about our upcoming tournament. There are several things that we’d like to share with you, so please take a moment and read through the entire email.

HAT TRICK RAFFLE
Once again this year, we will be selling raffle tickets. First place prize is a $500 Visa gift card! Your team reps will be passing them out to you this week so that you will have them by Christmas. This way you can start selling to all your family and friends that you’ll see over the holidays. A raffle ticket would make a great stocking stuffer!
We are asking for each player to sell 2 books. There will be prizes awarded to our players that sell above the required amount . If they sell 75 tickets they get a free WCFO 2012 T-shirt. 100 tickets sold will get them the T-shirt & a $15 ITunes gift card. The player that sells the most will get a $100 gift card. TEAM BASKETS
Each team will be putting together a theme basket that is valued between $400 - $500. These baskets are always a huge money maker and a big crowd pleaser. Your team reps will be letting you know what theme they decided on. Some baskets that we’ve seen in the past: Wii, Itouch, travel basket, chocolate, and nerf gun. Since these are raffle baskets, no alcohol can be included in them. Any alcohol item/basket must be a silent auction item.
DONATIONS, DONATIONS, DONATIONS...
No donation is too big or too small! We will have a raffle & silent auction which relies solely on donations. Some ideas are: gift cards from restaurants, salons, coffee shops, timeshare vacations, gym memberships, anything that you can get your hands on. And of course our tournament wouldn’t be complete without wine! There is a donation letter that can be found under the WCFO page under our webpage that you can take when asking for donations. PROGRAM ADS & HOCKEY GRAMS
We will be selling ads & hockey grams that will be placed in our program book.
ADS: This is where you can really benefit. If you place a new ad, you will get 50% of the ad cost credited towards your club account. If you place a recurring ad, you will get 10% credited toward your club account. A good idea is to suggest that they place a coupon in the program. (And don’t forget to ask about a donation as well).
Hockey Grams: Hockey Grams are a great way to show off your favorite player! Submit a photo of your player and a catchy phrase and your player will love you for it! Other ideas can be your player with their heros (coaches, dad/mom or NHL players/coaches), or even a team hockey gram. Get creative!

VOLUNTEER SHIFTS
Each family will be required to work a number of shifts during WCFO. Some examples are: off-ice officials (running the clock, scorekeeping, announcing), locker room duty, working the silent & raffle auction tables, or working in the hospitality suite. The number of shifts is still to be determined. If a family doesn’t work the required shifts, there will be a monetary penalty. The volunteer shift schedule will come out approximately 2 weeks before the tournament. This is a great opportunity to meet other fantastic families from our club.
HOSPITALITY SUITE
No tournament tops our hospitality suite! This is a place that adults can go upstairs to relax & watch the game while enjoying a treat on us! Each family will be required to bring in a dessert on a given night. But in addition to our deserts, we provide beverages (non alcoholic), and munchies. So, if you have any contacts in the food business willing to help us out, let us know! Please contact Kim Hutcheon at kimh90@gmail.com for any donations or questions.
In closing, we’d like to give you some information about WCFO. WCFO is our major fundraising event of the year. The entry fees only cover fixed costs such as ice time, referees, and trophy costs. The actual fundraising part of the tournament comes from the Hat Trick Raffle, raffle & silent auction, the sale of ads, and even a percentage of T-shirt sales comes back to the club. Profits from the tournament go directly into the Club’s general funds & help offset the cost of running the hockey programs throughout the year.
