The SRJHC House program -
The House program is an intermediate hockey program for children 9-17 years of age. The program is designed to help your child grow as a hockey player and develop their skills so they can move on to a travel team if they would like. It is also for families who may not be ready for travel and just want to keep their child playing hockey on a weekly basis. We will continue to work with your child to better enhance their skating, stick handling, passing and shooting skills. The House program works on small area drills and incorporates the entire rink on many of our drills. Players will learn positioning, teamwork and the basic rules of the game so they can reach their personal goals. House is a great place for the player who loves the game and is ready and willing to learn.

What is the difference between Intro to Hockey and the House program?
Intro is just that: an introduction to hockey. It is the starting point for children who already know how to ice skate and are now wanting to play hockey.
The House program requires the player to be able to show the ability to skate forwards, backwards, do crossovers and be able to apply a controlled hockey stop.
In addition to the House program, the SRJHC encourages the children to take advantage of Snoopy’s public skate sessions, as well as their skating program. Information on Snoopy’s Home Ice skating programs can be found here:

New Schedule This Season
House is divided into four sessions for a total of two nine week fall sessions between (Aug - Dec) and two nine week spring sessions (Jan - May.)
Half session (9 week) registrations are available.
House will have two practices each weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Players can sign up for “Full House” or “Half House”. Full House players practice both Saturdays AND Sundays while Half House players practice either Saturday OR Sunday each week, but not both.
Full House will have 34 possible practices (Saturday AND Sunday).
Half House will have 18 possible practices (Saturday OR Sunday).
* Most practices will be 7:30am Saturday and 8:15am Sunday. Times WILL vary.
** No practices on the weekends of President's Day, the Crystalline Classic (Spring)
18 Week Session: ***
Full House $800 - two days a week
Half House $400 - one day a week
9 Week Half Session
Full House $400 - two days a week
Half House $200 - one day a week
We understand you have busy schedules; unfortunately, we cannot offer prorated or makeup classes. We encourage your child to be at every practice and suited up ready to play five to ten minutes before ice time.
*** Players registering for the 18 week full session will have the choice to pay in full up front or use the payment plan. Those choosing the payment plan will pay half up front and half on week nine.
Does the house team play games?
The house team will have in-house scrimmages and we try our best to schedule a couple games during the season. Though the House team is not a travel program, some travel between other hockey programs is a possibility. For example, we will try to schedule some games for the team vs other hockey programs in the Bay Area and an exhibition game may take place in a different city. Traveling to another rink will help your child get the experience of being on a travel team and playing in a real game, which can be a lot of fun and help develop their skills even further.
